EARNED INCOME (WAGE) TAX

LOCAL TAX RETURNS ARE DUE APRIL 15, 2017

Your 2016 local earned income tax return is due on April 15. The quickest way to get your refund is to file online. If you live and work in Pennsylvania, you can e-file on our tax administrator’s website, which is available 24/7 at www.KeystoneCollects.com.

Keystone Collections Group’s e-file is the easy, fast and secure way to file your 2016 local tax return. It lets you file your tax return when it is most convenient for you.  You will need your W-2, your Social Security Number and any other income document that may apply (such as a PA-UE or a Schedule C).

Please note that the forms changed this year. If you will be claiming an out-of-state tax credit or if you work in Philadelphia, you may be eligible for a local earned income tax credit up to the amount you owe to your resident municipality. The worksheet on the back of the form will help you calculate your out-of-state tax credit (attach a copy of your out-of-state filing).

If you have questions regarding local tax filing, call Keystone’s Taxpayer Helpline at 1-888-328-0565 to speak with a local, knowledgeable Taxpayer Service Agent.  You can also email your questions to “Taxpayer Support” at www.keystonecollects.com.

Under PA Act 32, employers of Borough residents are required to withhold Earned Income Tax.  These employers, as well as residents earning net profits from a business or profession, are required to remit the Earned Income Tax to the applicable tax collectors for their respective Tax Collection District.  In turn, the tax collectors remit the Earned Income Tax collections to the Borough.

The Borough is in the Allegheny North Tax Collection District.  Keystone Collections Group is the tax collector engaged by the Allegheny North Tax Collection District.

The withholding tax rate is 1% percent.  This tax is distributed .5% to the Borough and .5% to the School District.

Forms of earned income include, without limitation, salaries, wages, commissions, bonuses, tips, fees, vacation payments, sick payments, severance payments, incentive payments, profit distributions, exercised stock options, deferred income from pensions and annuities, and net profits and earned income from businesses and professions.

As a resident of Sewickley Heights, it is important that you provide your employer with the correct PSD Code for Sewickley Heights – 711110.  This ensures that the taxes are distributed to the correct municipality by Keystone Collections.  We encourage you to verify this information with your employer.

If you change employers, please complete a Residency Certification Formand submit this form to your employer. The Residency Certification Form can be found by clicking here.
